Florence and the Machine at Oxegen 2010
Dressed in an ethereal gown Florence glides on to the main stage in front of the drenched crowd. After day two of raining spirits have dipped and people flock to Florence and the Machine expecting to be entertained. The rain is battering her but she has a sense of humour about it and invites the crowd to join her in an anti-rain dance. Having fun on stage Florence skips about the stage and takes her shoes off, a daring move on this rain covered stage. When the song Dog Days starts her need to sing is made redundant, the crowd is singing it to her. Her hits are so well known by this large audience it is hard to miss the look of awe on her face. You’ve Got the Love is another well received hit that the crowd jump to as well as shouting the words out loud. Her voice held up under the pressure of the high notes. Impressive is not the word, astounding is close but still not good enough to describe this woman’s voice. Her music is irritatingly overplayed, diluting its worth but it would be hard to get sick of her when witnessing the power of her voice in person.
