Absorbing Information

8 Hours on a bus today. Ouch.

Spent 3 hours at a Post-Grad open day, lots and lots of information. In fact my brain may explode. Sleep on it to absorb. The information. Yes. I will sleep with the shitload of leaflets under my pillow in order to absorb the mountains of information.

New News

Been ignoring the poor tumblr for a while now. Main reason - Harry Potter! Didn’t want to be catching glimpses of the Deathly Hallows part 2 until I had seen it for myself.

I have great news, I have got a place in Uni, NUI Galway offered me a place, I will be a mature student come September. Hope to study English and Psychology as my main two subjects. Lets just hope I don’t need to take out a maaaassssiiivvee loan to pay fees!

More Nuig News

I actually got into my first choice - I got Creative Writing with Arts. There were 15 places for this specialism.. and only 2 for mature students! So I’ve been quite shocked. I haven’t been telling people really it just feels like bragging, and I’m not very good at that. Unless I’m drunk. Hmm perhaps I should get a bottle of malibu in me and announce it on facebook. That’d be dead classy.

NUIG news i can be classy

September 17, 2011

First week at Uni was far from a doddle. Something about being closer to a bus pass than most first years makes it a whole heap harder. I’ve chosen my subjects, that’s Creative Writing, English, Psychology and Philosophy. Which means a butt load of work this year. Psychology has fierce competition but I have some clues as to what to expect from it already, so perhaps that’ll help.

I joined plenty of societies, only problem is I think they are all meeting on the same days!! Writers, photography, mature students, vegetarian and oh - archaeology. Archaeology was a last minute thing. I felt sorry for them, they were worried they’d be shut down. Gotta love an underdog.

Time to start procrastinating

I’ve been a very bad procrastinator this year. But hell I’ve had no time for it. Between being the old bird at uni keeping up with the young wans’ (no spelling error you need to read in a Donegal/Irish accent there) I’m totally burned out. A rest will be on the cards when the year is out. (That might just be me in bed a lot and wandering around home in pajamas with ratty hair, but rest is rest) I will put up some of my years work in incriminates so as not to flood the system! Some shite was written, no doubt. But writing every week, that has been great. Creative writing is harder and easier than I expected it to be. Some areas fantastic and some - ICK, but mostly I’ve loved my first year in NUI Galway. Here’s to summer exams, not repeating and getting published (somewhere - anywhere).
